Factories Act, 1948

Factory License

Any manufacturing unit employing 10 or more workers (with power) or 20 or more workers (without power) must obtain a Factory License from the Chief Inspector of Factories under the respective State Government. It is mandatory before commencing production.

Liquor License

The sale, manufacture, storage, and distribution of alcoholic beverages is regulated by each State's Excise Department under State Excise Acts. A valid Liquor License is mandatory before any alcohol-related commercial activity — failure to comply attracts criminal liability.

Trade License

A Trade License is issued by the Municipal Corporation or local body permitting a business to conduct a specific trade or business activity from a particular premises. It ensures that the business activity does not cause nuisance, hazard, or disruption to the local area.

Mandatory for shops, restaurants, factories, storage units, clinics, salons, and most commercial establishments. The license is premises-specific — a new license is required when shifting location.

Environment License (NOC)

Any industry or establishment that generates air or water pollution must obtain Consent to Establish (CTE) and Consent to Operate (CTO) from the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) under the Water Act 1974, Air Act 1981, and Environment Protection Act 1986.

Industries are categorised as Red, Orange, Green, or White based on their pollution potential. Red category units face the strictest scrutiny and require Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) clearance. We handle compliance for all categories.

Labour License

Businesses employing workers — whether directly or through contractors — must comply with India's labour law framework. The Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act 1970 mandates registration for principal employers and licenses for contractors engaging 20 or more workers.

The Shops & Commercial Establishments Act (state-specific) governs working conditions, wages, leave, holidays, and service terms for employees in shops, offices, and commercial premises. Registration is mandatory within 30 days of commencing business.
